Backyard Vintage DIY Wedding New Hill, NC : Kelsey+Travis

Kelsey+Travis

I’m gonna love you, forever I do.
I’m gonna spend all of my days with you.
I’ll carry your burdens and be the wind at your back.
I wanna spend my forever— forever like that.

When the rain comes, I’ll be your shelter.
When the storm blow, we’ll be together.
When the winds may fall, I’ll be right by your side.
— Ben Rector

Two of the most creative people I know were married this past June and I was lucky enough to be a part of their day.

I’ve known Travis for quite a few years now, first through Crosspointe Church and then through working together at Apple. He’s joined me on quite a few occasions as an amazing second shooter and also doing his own thing in video for his own company Two Suits Films.

I had photographed Kelsey, probably many times before I even met her!  I had been asked to cover some events for Crosspointe and she was part of the band and has an amazing voice!!  She has a kindness that just makes you feel as if you’ve known her for years.

I love how they love each other.  <3

When they got engaged and I was asked about photographing their wedding, I was of course thrilled.. but also felt incredibly fortunate.  I knew this wasn’t going to be just an ordinary wedding.. this was going to be an ALL OUT CELEBRATION!! The Crosspointe family doesn’t do things on a small level.. HA!

So many many hands and hearts came together to make their day absolutely perfect.  So much attention to detail and love was put into every moment of the day.  Kelsey’s Mom, Kris is one- third of the amazing Hobnob Occasions company.  Three amazing women who not only offer rentals of everything from vintage tea cups to linens to amazing handmade banquet tables and benches but they also offer wedding and event planning. So no doubt, the set up was breathtaking as you’ll see below..

I just want to say one more thing before I inundate you with way too many of my favorite images from their day.

These two, they gave me SO much time for photos.  Their first look was spectacular and one of my all time favorites.  Travis being on the other side of the camera and his experience with wedding day timelines really helped give them the images they wanted.

So many times not enough time is given or considered and it throws everything off or behind and just leaves everyone stressed.  Not saying that a first look is ALWAYS necessary but when building your timeline, there’s so much to consider and I am VERY willing to help with making sure my couples have time to get the images they truly want and will want to look back on!

Thank you Kelsey+Travis for allowing me to be a small part of your day!!

Thank you to the McClear Family for opening up their home for this wonderful celebration!

Big shout out to working alongside these amazing vendors!!

Sadie+Justin: Married! Outer Banks, North Carolina Wedding Photographer

Sadie and Justin were married on the beach in Kill Devil Hills back in June and it was beautiful.. Total DIY wedding where Sadie and friends came together to put all the finishing touches on their day! So many KIDS!! The most amazing and beautiful children.. I had no idea there would be this many kids and how wonderful they'd be in front of my lens!  I remember asking Sadie what the significance of the Buccaneer Motel was and come to find out they'd been coming here for years from Ohio... like 12+ years ever summer.  So in a way this place totally feels like home and was the perfect setting for these two to say I will.. <3 This wedding was full of family and friends, cousins and siblings.  I had so much fun hanging out with these guys and have the opportunity to capture this super intimate wedding for them.. I wish they lived closer!!!!

Nick+Amber : Married! Mordecai and Flander's Art Gallery Raleigh, North Carolina Wedding Photographer

Nick and Amber were brought to me by my amazing friend Lauren Mann of Lauren Mann Photography.   She was actually a guest at their wedding and thought I would be a perfect fit for them!  So right she was! Our schedules were so all over the place that we were unable to meet up prior to the big day but it didn't take long to feel like I'd known Amber for years.  She's such a calm spirit and so loving.   The way Nick adores her is so evident in the way he simply looks at Amber.. they are simply perfect for each other!  So many friends and family came together to make this day spectacular.. and it was.  When talking with Nick, I think our first of many emails/conversations he mentioned "that one photo"  that he really wanted to get out of the day.. That one photo.  You all know exactly what he's referring to.  We all (in our big fat photo albums covered in dust or proudly displayed on coffee tables) have that one photo of our parents, grand parents, great grandparents on their wedding day.  I hope I gave them much more than that one photo.. but I totally knew what he meant.

I think many couples feel that photography maybe just an extra and all that really counts is marrying the one you love.. being surrounded by family and friends and pledging your love for one another.   If no one captures it.. will you remember what color of blue your shoes were?  The bright yellow in the daisies?  The moment your father walked you down the aisle..and then you think.. YES!, I want a photographer to capture this moment.  These moments.  To give us that one photo and many more.  <3

Below is a super long post because I was over the moon as to how this wedding turned out.. just beautiful!  Amber and Nick's wedding was an intimate get together of close family and friends inside the Chapel at Mordecai in downtown Raleigh!  Followed by the reception at Flander's Art Gallery and  a night filled with the BEST music by DJ Triple B!

Thank you Nick and Amber for trusting me with these moments.  They are truly some of my very favorites from 2013.

Thank you to all the vendors for an AMAZING job!

Cordie+Christian : Engaged! NCSU and Downtown Raleigh Engagement Session

I was showing these photos to a friend today and realized I'd only shared FOUR on facebook!! It quickly prompted me to do a blog post!  Love this couple and am patiently waiting their approaching wedding date this October!  We met up back in April to photograph their engagement/save the date photos!  Their love for NCSU took us to the campus which photographs beautifully.. Love the layout of this campus!  and they brought along they SUPER cute pup! and we had a great evening walking around campus and then headed to Boylan Bridge to catch the amazing sunset and skyline of downtown Raleigh! Oh and BEER! Yes, Christian is a brewer so it was only fitting we would end up here! <3 Enjoy the following favorites from their engagement session!
