The Martinez Family : Fall Session, Wilmington, North Carolina Lifestyle Family Photographer

I can't believe I had not blogged this session before now! I've become too lazy and satisfied with posting albums on facebook.. this will change.  :)

Here's this beautiful family the first time we met!  Back in November of 2012 we met on a wonderfully overcast chilly morning at Chandler's Wharf in Wilmington, North Carolina.

You can really see how much they've grown in just SIX MONTHS!  Crazy, right!

Enjoy this beautiful lifestyle session and check out their latest session here! :)

Nick+Amber : Married! Mordecai and Flander's Art Gallery Raleigh, North Carolina Wedding Photographer

Nick and Amber were brought to me by my amazing friend Lauren Mann of Lauren Mann Photography.   She was actually a guest at their wedding and thought I would be a perfect fit for them!  So right she was! Our schedules were so all over the place that we were unable to meet up prior to the big day but it didn't take long to feel like I'd known Amber for years.  She's such a calm spirit and so loving.   The way Nick adores her is so evident in the way he simply looks at Amber.. they are simply perfect for each other!  So many friends and family came together to make this day spectacular.. and it was.  When talking with Nick, I think our first of many emails/conversations he mentioned "that one photo"  that he really wanted to get out of the day.. That one photo.  You all know exactly what he's referring to.  We all (in our big fat photo albums covered in dust or proudly displayed on coffee tables) have that one photo of our parents, grand parents, great grandparents on their wedding day.  I hope I gave them much more than that one photo.. but I totally knew what he meant.

I think many couples feel that photography maybe just an extra and all that really counts is marrying the one you love.. being surrounded by family and friends and pledging your love for one another.   If no one captures it.. will you remember what color of blue your shoes were?  The bright yellow in the daisies?  The moment your father walked you down the aisle..and then you think.. YES!, I want a photographer to capture this moment.  These moments.  To give us that one photo and many more.  <3

Below is a super long post because I was over the moon as to how this wedding turned out.. just beautiful!  Amber and Nick's wedding was an intimate get together of close family and friends inside the Chapel at Mordecai in downtown Raleigh!  Followed by the reception at Flander's Art Gallery and  a night filled with the BEST music by DJ Triple B!

Thank you Nick and Amber for trusting me with these moments.  They are truly some of my very favorites from 2013.

Thank you to all the vendors for an AMAZING job!

Jen+Andrew : Engaged! Raleigh, North Carolina Engagement Photographer

The other night I met with Jen and Andrew to capture their Save the Dates! I am in LOVE with Save the Date and Engagement sessions! Such a great time to get together.. it's relaxing and fun and a great way for my couples to see me work and just makes the wedding day more comfortable.  Jen already had plans of a paint war and I was so excited to do something completely different!  We met at the Dorothea Dix Campus in Raleigh, while being serenaded by Umphrey's McGee playing at Red Hat Amphitheater that evening!  The thing I love the most about Jen and Andrew besides Jen's GORGEOUS freckles and Andrew's super sweet smile... the way they are when they're just quiet with each other..it was as if I wasn't even there.. I LOVE THAT!! <3 So looking forward to their wedding next year!  Here are a few of my favorites from the evening! :)

Crosspointe Church : Fall Family Sessions, Fred Bond Park, Cary, NC Family Portrait Photographer

I was approached early last fall by a friend asking if I would be interested in coming up with a special portrait package for all of the volunteers and staff who work for Crosspointe Church in Cary, North Carolina.  So excited, "Absolutely!" I said..  I had experience photographing a few families but not many at this point..most of my experience had been just weddings.. and "I pose families for formals?" I thought.. RIGHTTTTTTTTT..  I had no idea what I had gotten myself into.. and I couldn't have asked for a greater gift than the opportunity to photograph so many loving families in the span of a few weeks.  EIGHTEEN in total.  I was diving HEAD FIRST into the deep end of family portrait photography and many of the sessions consisted of a little bit of pet photography too! :) I chose Fred Bond Park in Cary after visiting while scouting out the perfect setting!  It was all green at the time, but I had seen photos and the leaves turned a beautiful warm auburn and bright sunshiny yellow once the chill hit the air.  The first session I scheduled before the time change for a date, you guessed it.. after daylight savings time fell back.  So by the end of the session we were practically in the dark.. All of the families worked with me getting rearranged.. We worked through reschedules with illnesses, trips, rain and work schedules.. but we were able to get every single one DONE!

Looking back I think this is truly some of my best work.  I LOVED working with every single one of these families and am not even showing you all of them!  Just a sample of the many families I worked with.. Going out there almost every day for two weeks at the peak of the leaves changing color.. I watched them as they changed over the two weeks and fell in love with that park.. Still one of my favorite places to shoot.

I am currently beginning to schedule Fall Family Sessions and availability is tight!  So if you are thinking this is the year you get that portrait updated for your holiday cards or just want to see how beautiful you truly are.. drop me a line.  I only have a few Sundays and weekdays available in October and there's limited availability in November!  I'd love to get you on my calendar..

Lauren : Bridals-Carolina Country Club & St. Mary's Chapel, Raleigh, NC Wedding Photographer

Lauren and Billy were married back in June and I had to sit on these for months!  Lauren's bridals were some of my all time favorites!  The Carolina Country Club is where their reception was held so we started there and ended up at St. Mary's their ceremony venue.  Both locations were just picturesque and add in Lauren looking beyond exquisite.. and BOOM!  Gorgeous, Gorgeous portraits! Here are a few of my favorites from Lauren's bridal session, can you guess which ones she chose for her portrait?  It was hard to choose just one so she had TWO! <3
