Backyard Vintage DIY Wedding New Hill, NC : Kelsey+Travis

I’m gonna love you, forever I do.
I’m gonna spend all of my days with you.
I’ll carry your burdens and be the wind at your back.
I wanna spend my forever— forever like that.

When the rain comes, I’ll be your shelter.
When the storm blow, we’ll be together.
When the winds may fall, I’ll be right by your side.
— Ben Rector

Two of the most creative people I know were married this past June and I was lucky enough to be a part of their day.

I’ve known Travis for quite a few years now, first through Crosspointe Church and then through working together at Apple. He’s joined me on quite a few occasions as an amazing second shooter and also doing his own thing in video for his own company Two Suits Films.

I had photographed Kelsey, probably many times before I even met her!  I had been asked to cover some events for Crosspointe and she was part of the band and has an amazing voice!!  She has a kindness that just makes you feel as if you’ve known her for years.

I love how they love each other.  <3

When they got engaged and I was asked about photographing their wedding, I was of course thrilled.. but also felt incredibly fortunate.  I knew this wasn’t going to be just an ordinary wedding.. this was going to be an ALL OUT CELEBRATION!! The Crosspointe family doesn’t do things on a small level.. HA!

So many many hands and hearts came together to make their day absolutely perfect.  So much attention to detail and love was put into every moment of the day.  Kelsey’s Mom, Kris is one- third of the amazing Hobnob Occasions company.  Three amazing women who not only offer rentals of everything from vintage tea cups to linens to amazing handmade banquet tables and benches but they also offer wedding and event planning. So no doubt, the set up was breathtaking as you’ll see below..

I just want to say one more thing before I inundate you with way too many of my favorite images from their day.

These two, they gave me SO much time for photos.  Their first look was spectacular and one of my all time favorites.  Travis being on the other side of the camera and his experience with wedding day timelines really helped give them the images they wanted.

So many times not enough time is given or considered and it throws everything off or behind and just leaves everyone stressed.  Not saying that a first look is ALWAYS necessary but when building your timeline, there’s so much to consider and I am VERY willing to help with making sure my couples have time to get the images they truly want and will want to look back on!

Thank you Kelsey+Travis for allowing me to be a small part of your day!!

Thank you to the McClear Family for opening up their home for this wonderful celebration!

Big shout out to working alongside these amazing vendors!!

Highgrove Estate Wedding : Fuquay Varina, North Carolina | Gwyn+Neil

"She's as sweet as Tupelo honey
She's an angel of the first degree
She's as sweet as Tupelo honey
Just like the honey, from the bee"

-Tupelo Honey, Van Morrison

They danced to this beautiful song by one of my favorite artists.. surrounded by family and friends who came from near and far to be there, some over 3600 miles!  Gwyn and Neil were married last May and I've been wanting to feature this wedding for months now, time gets away from you.  So let's do this properly.

Gwyn and Neil were a "perfect fit" referral from their good friends Lauren and Jared who were married a few months before them in September.  The first time I met Gwyn we had an instant connection and when I met Neil, he was just as entertaining and so sweet.  They took me to Tanglewood Park for their Save the Dates and instantly I knew this was going to be such and adventure.  We later travelled to the Blue Ridge Mountains during peak season for their Engagements.  One snag of course, it was when the government shutdown was going on.. who knew National parks would be that affected but they knew their way around the mountains like pros and it didn't hinder us one bit.  They'll completely agree.. we had the best time and the best meatball subs and Gaelic Ales at that little restaurant in downtown Blowing Rock.

Their day was perfect in every way.. even the raindrops that came and went exactly 40 minutes before the ceremony.. just enough time to come blessing them on their wedding day and leaving as quickly as they came to not hinder their outdoor ceremony.  I remember Lauren looking at me as we both caught a glimpse of the big rain drops as they fell, and we rushed to close the drapes as to not worry Gwyn as she was getting ready..

Highgrove Estate was exceptional. Just a gorgeous venue! Catering was amazing and their very favorite band Old Habits played the night away, they'd actually been playing the night they met!

Their first year has been an adventure and I am so glad they're getting settled in their new home in Texas.. I just wish they lived closer!  Congratulations Gwyn+Neil! and Thank you so much for allowing me in to capture this awesome love you two share for each other.. you two together can face any challenge and make the most of it! and that's what I love the most about the two of you!

St Thomas Preservation Hall, Downtown Wilmington and Coastal North Carolina Wedding | Shanna+Carter

This isn't sometimes
Yeah, it's for always
If I'm gonna love you with all of my heart
And if there is no more time,
This always remains.
Even as the world spins itself apart...

Cause I remember them days I waited so patiently
For God to bring someone who's gonna be good to me
And then he blessed my soul

I Found You-Alabama Shakes

Shanna+Carter's first dance song has stuck with me.. I even put it on as I started typing this post.  This song fit them absolutely perfectly.  They together have a sense of style that's classic, refined, timeless.. and it was at every turn during their day.  When they arrived for their rehearsal dressed to the nines with their ray bans on in the most gorgeous golden sunset light I said "You guys look like movie stars!"  That's exactly what it feels to be around them.  They are so loved by everyone they come in contact with and they give that all back.. Hang out with them for a few minutes and you'll know exactly what I mean.

Every time we met up to discuss wedding plans or shoot their save the dates, I walked away feeling so incredibly lucky to have them in my photo family.  They both made photography so important and gave me so much incredible time for photographs!  Huge shout out to Taylor, Shanna's MOH who scoped out AMAZING locations for portraits..she has an incredible eye and I couldn't have picked better spots! and to the AWESOME Wrightsville Beach resident who came out and asked if we wanted to use her waterfront backyard and boat dock to shoot on.. "Ummmm, YES!!!!"

You'll see below the day was emotional, beautiful, full of style, sentimental and SO MUCH FUN! These guys had such a blast with the Photo Booth and just being together to celebrate with such an amazing couple!

Congratulations Shanna+Carter!  Honored to have spent the day with you two! <3

I am so happy you were gifted with snowflakes on your mini moon in Blowing Rock! and super excited to see photos from your Honeymoon in the Spring in Ireland!  It's at the top of my bucket list!

Again, such amazing vendors came together for this event! I hope to work with everyone very soon!!

Downtown Raleigh Mint and Peach Wedding | Jen and Andrew

I first met up with Jen and Andrew at Tyler's in Apex.  They were a referral from Cordie and Christian.  Jen and Cordie had been housemates for awhile and when Jen was looking for a wedding photographer, Cordie sent her my way! (Thanks Cordie!)

I knew they were a perfect fit.. they’re laid back, enjoy good beer and had thoughts of doing their save the dates in a place where it wouldn’t matter if paint got spilled! HA! You can check out their paint fight here.. Save the Dates

Jen and Andrew were married back in May of this year in one of my very favorite weddings from 2014!  They had their ceremony at West Presbyterian Church in Raleigh and immediately folioing a reception at the Mordecai Historic Park also in Downtown Raleigh.

The girls got ready that morning at the Oakwood Inn.  What an awesome BnB!  If you’ve not checked it out, you should! and it’s a gorgeous spot for getting ready for brides!

We all met up at the church and Andrew’s mom officiated their wedding ceremony!

After the ceremony we all hopped on a Raleigh Trolley and visited a few different spots.. Fayetteville Street and Moore Square to grab some quintessential Downtown Raleigh wedding images! Then headed over to the park to have a wonderful party!

Jen and Andrew! Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your day! It was one I will always adore!  The attention to detail was impeccable! Looking forward to our raincheck/engagement session with Luna coming up!!

Many amazing vendors came together to pull out all the stops on this one!

This Weekend : A New Start and a sneak at Laura and Brendan's Big Day!

So I'm once again going to try to get on to some sort of blogging schedule.  I've just started making walking a part of my day most days and I think I always thought, I needed to have the right shorts, or the right t shirt or the right headphones, playlist, temperature, etc.. JUST DO IT ALREADY! and that's exactly what I've been doing.. just doing it and it's paid off! So here's where I'm going to try the same approach with blogging!

I have a backload of super duper amazing weddings and I will absolutely get to each and every one but I am going to start now.. starting with Laura and Brendan's wedding from this past Saturday!

Mother Nature owed me BIG TIME! Absolutely NO RAIN and it was just perfection..Here's a few sneaks from their downtown Raleigh wedding at the always DELICIOUS Caffe Luna! I must say, what a beautiful venue for an intimate ceremony.  I've photographed rehearsal dinners in this spot but never a wedding and it was just gorgeous!  Looking forward to sharing more with you later this week (<---see what I did there? I just committed myself to having another post done this week!)  Enjoy!
