I remember Tom coming in to the house, "I just met the neighbors...she volunteers for Columbus County Humane Society (where we adopted both our girls from), you should come out and meet them.." Yeah, okay, I said. That was over two years ago. We had just moved to a new rental house just south of Wilmington in a little town called Winnabow..if you blink you might miss it! We became fast friends with our neighbors, Paula and Lew and in those 10 months laughed, shared losses in our fur families, rocked out to Rock Band, shared stories over amazing dinners and took long bike rides and talked about our relationships. Our homes became extensions of each others. The wind picked up and blew Tom and I in a direction further west and we packed up and moved. I was a horrible friend and despite the phone calls and messages I didn't keep in touch over the year and a half we were gone.I remember standing in Ace Hardware talking to Lew on the phone...They were gonna do it! They were getting married! They wanted me to fly to Florida to photograph their super intimate wedding on the beach at sunset! I wanted to go so bad, but I was already booked and couldn't swing it. We've stayed in touch mostly through facebook, go figure!
I remember reading Paula's post back in May, I couldn't believe it! In her words "I am 17+wks & we are doing great! Who would have "thunk" it? Ms. Anti-Marriage & Too Busy to Think about Kids ! Isn't it funny what LOVE can do?" I was so excited for them both! I knew this was something Lew had really wanted and Paula, well they both, are just so amazing, loving and caring...Kellen is totally the lucky one to be born in to such a wonderful family! I knew this was how I could make up for being "away". I wanted to capture this important time in their lives for them. I missed them the first time I went back home to Wilmington back in June but made sure on this last visit I HAD to make this a priority! It was so good catching up, seeing all the kitties and pups. Hanging out with my old friends, meeting Paula's mom, who I felt I knew after all this time! Seeing their beautiful new home to welcome Kellen home. Beautiful Parents, Loving Home...What more could this little stinker ask for? I can't wait to meet you Kellen Rosenbloom... : )
