2011 was my year of the portrait! Funny looking back at the beginning of the year I was afraid of portrait photography. How will I pose them?? Will they relax?? They're going to hate having my camera in their face!! I don't want to waste their time...all of the many things running through my head! I was so used to wedding photography, capturing things in the moment and as the day unfolds. So I left it for another day...that day happened when my very close friend, Nathan, agreed to go on an impromptu shoot! The afternoon started just like any afternoon when we would get together...meet at Open Eye! Coffee, then walking..great afternoons always start this way! What happened that afternoon opened me up to a world of photography I had since been worried, scared, and just in plain disbelief in my abilities. Over the year the requests grew and I was able to photograph some of the most interesting and beautiful people I have ever met! What follows is my year in review with my favorites from my portrait sessions this year. The beautiful people I have featured, I am lucky enough to work with and consider them family. The honor to capture them, their beauty, their uniqueness was beyond fulfilling. I fell in love with portrait photography in 2011. Enjoy!
Thank you all for being yourselves and for "allowing me to stick my camera in your face!"
